Description of Separator Tanks

Separator tanks are used to separate a gas phase from a liquid phase, or to split two immiscible liquids, in processes where mixtures of fluids must be handled. They are commonly deployed as knock-out drums, scrubbers, or flash vessels in steam, gas, and chemical systems.

Thanks to modern welding techniques (submerged arc system with camera technology), we manufacture separator tanks up to a diameter of 3300 mm. Each vessel is calculated and manufactured according to your flow rates, pressures, and separation requirements.

Typical applications include:

• Gas-liquid separation in chemical and petrochemical plants

• Steam flash vessels in thermal energy systems

• Knock-out drums for compressed gas and air systems

Vessel Design and Internals

The separation performance of a separator tank depends strongly on its internal geometry. Our separator tanks can be equipped with demister pads, baffles, vortex breakers, and inlet distributors to maximize phase separation efficiency. Horizontal and vertical configurations are available depending on your space and process requirements.

For internal corrosion protection we offer, for example:

• Hard rubber lining for aggressive media

• Epoxy resin coating such as Sika Permacor 136TW (drinking water approval)

• Hot painting such as Sika HS or Epimid

• External coatings as primer or with topcoat in RAL color

Quality and Warranty

All internal coating systems are carried out by reliable specialized companies. References include TipTop Oberflächenschutz Elbe GmbH or InProCoat Südwestfalen GmbH. After submitting a media analysis, we provide you with a 5-year warranty on corrosion protection.

Our separator tanks are calculated and manufactured according to your specifications and requirements. Optionally, we also offer you access ladders, railings, or connecting bridges.

Acceptance of our separator tanks according to DGRL with Module G and CE marking is easily possible.
